Zondervan Publishers is owned by Rupert Murdoch, and has exclusive rights to publish the NIV Bible better known as the ‘None Inspired Version’. Murdoch owns myspace?
Why would the owner of such a worldly media empire want to publish the Bible? Jesus said, “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand: And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?” Matthew 12:25-26.
Is Rick Warren promoting Rupert Murdoch’s porn? As we all well know, everything Rick Warren does is on purpose. What is Rick’s purpose in associating himself with Murdoch?
Does the church you attend support Zondervan? Do you support through purchases, Zondervan?

i guess the question becomes…
Have people come to know the Lord through the ready of scriptures…the NIV bible. Has the spirit moved with the use of the apparent ‘Non-Ispired Version’…
I say yes!
Thank you CG for your opinion,
The question though, is whether or not you or the church you attend supports Zondervan by selling books from this publisher.
from the ESV
Philippians 1: 15 Some indeed preach Christ from envy and rivalry, but others from good will. 16The latter do it out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel. 17The former proclaim Christ out of rivalry, not sincerely but thinking to afflict me in my imprisonment. 18What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed, and in that I rejoice.
I’m gonna go with Paul on this one. You mean Murdoch is out to make money on selling Bibles? “What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed, and in that I rejoice.”
I think that there are far bigger issues to deal with than Zondervan being owned by Murdoch since he happens to own a good deal of everything sold in America. But it always does surprise people when they find out that the guy who owns myspace, foxnews, and half of America through various stock holdings also owns the copywrite to the NIV.
If you’re a highly conservative republican that thinks everyone in PA teaching evolution has been abandoned by God then you will be happy to know that Murdoch and Pat Robertson are good friends.
I would say a good portion of Christians in America would say Murdoch is a good guy based on his support of Republicans, Pat Robertson, and “Christian” political candidates in general.
I tend to disagree with those “Christians” myself but it is certainly not for me to judge. Rather, “in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed, and in that I rejoice.”
reply to joeler@gmail.com and i’ll try to get back to you quickly
also of note: I personally prefer the ESV or NASB to the NIV in either case as they seem to be more accurate
Joel, You need a more accurate translation of the Bible.
Check if you have these versus in your ESV.
Matthew 17:21
Matthew 18:11
Matthew 23:14
Mark 7:16
Mark 9:44, 46
Mark 11:26
Mark 15:28
Luke 17:36
Luke 23:17
John 5:4
Acts 8:37
Acts 24:7
Acts 28:29
Romans 16:24
I personally will not support Zondervan by purchasing another inaccurate account of the Gospels.
Dude .. are you on medication??? Lost your mind??? If so, well then, there would be a reasonable excuse …..
Observant,
Had to delete your last comment. Sorry, it did not make any sense, please try rewording.
First of all let me say I have read the NIV verison for the last 7 years. Was saved by using the NIV. But, you have to choose at some point in your life to stand up for what is important, and worth fighting for…
I agree. You have to either choose to read God’s word as he intended man to read it, or as man desires us to see it.
When is enough deleted scripture going to be the point that we get upset. When you delete Acts 8:37 out of the bible ( “And Philip said, If Thout Believest with all thine heart, Thou Mayest. An he answered and said I believe that Jesus is the Son Of God”. You have taken a very important statement out of the bible and the importance of a believes baptisim out of the word of God. Then you are saying anyone can be baptised. Wheather they choose for themselves or not.
As a former Catholic I know the importance of that statement.
…what is enough changes for you? Personally this one did it for me.
Susan,
Thank you for seeking the Truth. Proverbs 8:17
I’m not sure if anyone is still keeping up with this, but I encourage you to all visit http://www.biblelookup.com and try searching for an NIV passage or verse.
I was outraged by what I found. We need to expose these guys for who and what they really are. Last I checked, this was a scripture of the Bible as well:
“Give to him who begs from you, and do not refuse him who would borrow from you.” Matthew 5:42
Look up that web page and you’ll see what I mean…
And Susan, I think it’s great that you were saved through usage of the NIV Bible. God can always bring about his greatness and will, even out of the most diluted of things. Take the Columbine HS shootings for example (an event that had a large impact on my life). He was able to turn hearts around and bring people to him, all from the evil actions of two lost boys.
Satan has a way of deceiving the world in such subtle ways that most people don’t realize it’s happening. The NIV perversion is one such way.
He is slowly working his way into the written word of God. These men are subtly altering and removing scripture. Why? Who knows. It is most likely for some personal selfish agenda.
“18. For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: 19. And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and [from] the things which are written in this book.” – Revelation 22:18-19
These verses are contained at the very end of the Bible (KJV)
Has anyone not considered, or heard of, The Scriptures, published by the Institute For Scripture Research? It is by FAR the most accurate translation of the Word of God available today. And this is not my mere opinion. Check it out!
No matter what version we read, we have Hope in Him.
2 Peter 1:19-21
19We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
20Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
21For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
Let’s see…the NIV (complete as the OT and NT) was first published in 1978, by Zondervan. This was LONG before Murdoch’s company, HarperCollins, purchased Zondervan. Now, how on earth is it the NIV’s fault because the company that owns its exclusive printing rights (Zondervan) was purchased by another company owned by Murdoch?? Enough of the guilt-by-association game. If you don’t like the NIV, just say so and choose another good translation (KJV? Be my guest, it’s a wonderful translation). Don’t get into playground games that say, “my translation is better than your translation because…” and don’t look for a cheap (low-down) way to make it appear that there is something wrong with someone else’s translation just because you can’t find a concrete reason why it isn’t the Bible.
If the NIV is the “none inspired version” then so is your KJV. That accusation works both ways because it is not absolute and has no truth backing it. Why? There is not one iota of Scripture that says the KJV 1611 was inspired by God in English or that its translators were inspired to choose the exact words, etc. Neither is there any place in Scripture that says any other translation throughout history was inspired.
Inspired, in biblical terms, means “God-breathed.” When God gave Scripture to the original writers it was breathed out by the Holy Spirit. Nowhere does God say that copies of the original inspired writings were inspired works nor that the copyists were inspired. When we start adding inspiration to copies and copies of copies, and to translations, we run into serious trouble, because anyone can then come along and claim they’ve received new, inspired revelation from God. One example is Peter S. Ruckman (KingJamesOnlyist) teaching that the KJV is new inspired revelation from God that corrects the originals. There’s no scripture to back what he says either.
Enough bickering over translations and whose Bible is the best, and enough looking for reasons to attach false guilt to prove your point. Just read God’s word and be thankful that you live in one of the few countries where you are FREE to own and read the Bible! Thank you.
I was interested in the Acts 8:37 verse being omitted in the Niv version, so I did a little research The NIV Prophecy Study Bible at the bottom comments says that some late manuscripts have Baptized?”37Phillp said,”If you believe with all your heart, you may.”I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son Of God.” So my guess is that the earlier manuscripts did not have the verse either, and that is why it was not put in. In defense of the NIV it was mentioned in this version.
Hello Informed and Bob,
Thank you for your insight and your defense of the NIV.
Praise God that Scripture is not open to private interpretation but to only being interpreted to us by the Holy Spirit of the LORD.
Certainly the NIV is not guilty of being uninspired, but rather the men doing the translation.
And as you both seem to prefer the NIV, enjoy.
The NIV was translated by a self-governing body of fifteen (15) of mostly biblical scholars from colleges, universities and seminaries.
The KJV on the other hand was translated by forty-seven (47) men who were the best biblical scholars and linguists of their day.
I myself prefer how Nebuchadnezzar in Daniel 3:25 in the KJV translation described who he saw walking in the fire as compared with the NIV translator’s version.
Daniel 3:25
“He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.”
bro, half of america’s corporations own a third of other american corporations. Murdoch owns most of the rest. What does that matter? Please tell me that you do realize that he has nothing to do with translation or spiritual issues related to Zondervan! To say he published the bible is nonsense, and you know it. And if you don’t know it, than you really should consider whether having a worldwide blog is a good idea. And why would a godly person, whose life is supposedly built on the cornerstone of Christ, start such an argument so as to bring division to the body of Christ? Do you really believe that you honor God by putting a translation of the Scriptures, translated by fallible humans, above 1) the work of Christ in the world, 2) the ministry of godly ministers and disciples of Jesus Christ, and 3) probably most important, loving God above everything. You start fights with other Christians, but do you have love. You complain about mega church pastors, but do attend to the needs of the weak, broken, hurting? I’ve met Christians who read 3rd grade versions of the “Scriptures”, but their witness for Christ and the fruit in their lives by far exceeds any of your spiritual rantings. My friend, all you are is a mad, angry, selfish human being. And at the end of the day, when you and all your friends have bashed the body of Christ to your hearts’ content, you have still accomplished nothing for the Kingdom of God. You are so far attached from the vine, so deceived by the gods of this age (or maybe the gods of the 1600s), you wouldn’t know truth if it hit you in the face. But don’t worry. Next time I’m in a service, where the NIV is being read and studied, and people are getting healed, and delivered from alcohol addiction, and porn addition, and baptized in the spirit with the evidence of speaking in other tongues, and lives are being transformed by the power of the living word, I’ll say a prayer for you.
What does it matter if a mega church owns condos on the Intra coastal water way? Why does it matter if I sin, I have a Savior do I not? Is it okay to be the leader of a drama group, teach and disciple young people and yet not be married to the woman you live with and claim to be married to? Is it okay to receive money from the devil? Is it okay to work for the devil? Does the devil print Bibles? Can Murdoch be both the owner of pornographic media and a child of the living God? Mark 3:26
The Body of Christ is not divided! Be you certain of that, though Jesus did say he came to divide. Luke 12:51-53
“people are getting healed, and delivered from alcohol addiction, and porn addition, and baptized in the spirit with the evidence of speaking in other tongues, and lives are being transformed by the power of the living word”
This does not ensure them of eternal LIFE. These are not evidence of Salvation. These are not the Fruit of the Spirit.
John chapter 3.
Christ came to divide – the believers and non-believers. He did not come to divide His church. Bro, I think you are taking all these way too literally. Do you also happen to believe that using electric guitars and drums in church are devil-worship? I’m not suggesting you take a more liberal stand or forfeit your principles but you need to be better advised – do consult your church leadership lest you stumble others or lead someone astray. Ultimately it doesn’t matter which translation we use (personally I use KJV by the way) as long as its accepted by legitimate churches and Christian organisations and by the way, you’re the only one I know who opposes the NIV, and in quite vehement fashion too. Be careful not to be the one who divides the church. If you have issues with Murdoch or Warren, take it up with them and their organizations, just don’t drag the body of Christ into your campaign. Have you checked sufficiently that you are not being fooled into being a false prophet? Take care…
Hello Simon,
Harper Collins, who owns Zondervan, publishes the Satanic Bible. Harper Collins is owned by News Corporation which incidentally was created in 1980 by Rupert Murdoch.
Failure to read the Bible will not condemn anyone to hell. Breaking God’s Law will condemn those who are guilty to Hell.
Grace is Jesus the Christ giving His Life in obedience to God the Father, and laying down His Life on the cross for us while we were yet sinners.
Simon, Any Translation? Just how much poison is okay to put in your wife’s coffee? Ephesians 5:25-28
If it only takes one false prophecy to make a false prophet, how many contradictions does it take to make a false Bible? Satan only changed one of God’s words to decieve Eve. How many changes will it take to decieve you? Mark 1:2 in the NIV reads as it is written in Isaiah, yet it isn’t it Isaiah, it is in Malachi 3:1. Lucifer is Jesus in the NIV, Isaiah 14:12. How many more would you like? The NIV BLASPHEMOUSLY places the Golden Alter of Incense in the Holy of Holies, when it was plainly in the Holy room of the Tabernacle. Would you drink from a glass containing 3% arsenic and 97% water?
I hold in my hand, The Living Word of God, so precious I have not words to describe. This one happens to be a NIV published in 1984 by the International Bible Society. Since this was before Murdoch owned the “rights”, does it mean this one is ok? It is very dear to me, as are my KJV, NKJV, and my NLT. I am new in my walk with Christ, and this discussion is very troubling to me.
Some in my congregation seem ready to burn their NIVs. I feel The Spirit leading me to keep mine.
I am reminded of: MATT 7:1-6 and LUKE 7:39-47
Hi Steven,
Yes, Truth is not tainted and holds no falseness. Jesus is the Truth.
Hello William,
I read an English translation of Scripture written in Hebrew. Is the translation exact. I speak 4 languages and from this I understand that translating from one language to another is not exact.
As I said earlier in this blog:
No matter what version we read, we have Hope in Him.
2 Peter 1:19-21
All prophecy of Scripture is interpreted to us by the Holy Spirit of God.
William we must all trust the Lord or we will all be deceived, in fact if we do not trust Him we are already deceived.
be blessed.
First, to the person that posted about Revelation saying not to add or take away. That pertains to that book.
Second, God is soveriegn. To say someone can change His Word would mean he’s not in control. In fact Muslims say the bible is corrupted by man but is God’s word. You can’t have both. The NIV is not meant to be a literal translation. All the translations have errors. Who cares as long as His Word is spread and people are saved?
TCD,
God allowed Cain to slay Able. God did not will for Cain to Slay his brother Able. God did not make or force Cain to slay Able.
Cain slew Able of Cain’s own will, not God’s will.
Error is not something God allows. Jesus said not one jot or tittle will pass away until all has been fulfilled.
God cares, this is why we have this statement in Revelation from John.
My dear brother, these peoples hearts are hardend and they cannot spiritually see. Will there be any faith when Jesus returns? God tells the Laodiceans church to buy eyesalve for their eyes so they can spiritually see. They are neither hot or cold (spiritually bankrupt) and God will spue them out His mouth because they make Him sick. (Revelation 3:14-19). Dear brother whose voice cries, i have researched for hours on a kids bible whose web is vanderkidzbible.com. I am sure it is the same person who published the corrupt NIV but i can’t find any info in all my searches. My grandson was given this bible and i need to know what i am talking about before i bring this to my daughter’s attention. Do you know of a site that could help me?
Also, don’t you rebellious people know that each time there is a new bible version published that they have to make a lot of changes to the bible in order that it is not like any of the others??? The last i looked there were over 400 new water-downed perverted versions of the bible. These bibles are not holy and neither is their contents. The NIV as an example, promotes sodomites. Yes, it is true that some souls can be saved with this corrupt bible, but when you know the truth and you go against God then if i were you i would shake in my boots. Christians are to be watchmen and warn others. You have been warned by my dear brother “1voicecrying” and myself. Take heed lest you fall.
Glenda
I love your site!

Experiencing a slow PC recently? Fix it now!
Im seeing the controversies here over this bible issue. Now a big argument people use is that the NIV has saved alot of people. Now this is true and very great, however, what some people forget is that apart from the ownership issue, many texts in the NIV were left out, some were misconstrued, some things added and some totally changed the meaning of the passage.
Should we then continue to use this NIV bible, knowing how corrupted it is?
Remember:
Galatians 5:7-9 (KJV)
7 Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth?
8 This persuasion cometh not of him that calleth you.
9 A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.
While I am totally overjoyed at that fact that the NIV has saved people. I am certainly not overjoyed at the error and heretical doctrines which the NIV bible propagates.
The ‘little leaven’ as some see it as a non-issue, would soon ‘leaven the whole lump’… and trust me, in recent times I am seeing how the whole lump is being affected from this twisted bible.
God bless.
I feel tormented. I tossed my NIV based on this and similar websites. But I feel that it helped me escape the LDS Church. Their book of mormon is in the KJV, and since I wasn’t used to it, I had lots of trouble reading it.
It wasn’t that my NIV lead me there, I had stopped reading it. And now it sits in the dumpster. I feel like Balaam, who wouldn’t listen to his donkey.
I went to other websites and saw that the NKJV is satanic. I ignored that warning and bought one from a used book store since it’s supposed to be more accurate than the NIV.
Now I feel like a hypocrite, discarding one faulty version for another.
I keep seeing that the KJV is the best version of the Bible, but I honestly don’t like it, even though it seems to be the only version that has no copyright (I wonder how anyone can put a copyright on God’s Word?!). And I can’t read the KJV it for all the thees, thous, and such. I stumble over such wordage like crazy.
Now I think I’m too weak and wretched to read God’s Word. Is there any hope for me?
After prayer, reflection, and much distress, I decided to fish my NIV out of the dumpster. If I had spent more time reading it and praying, I doubt I would have even considered going to the LDS Church.
Some may disagree with me. But how can I follow God if I spend my life scrambling for the “best” version? All versions of the Bible have to be wrong to some degree, since God entrusted it to us to write and copy it, and hand it down to others. I’ve decided to trust God to preserve His Word, as He promised.
I’ve heard others deal with this dilemma by using more than one version. Since I now have two in my household, I feel more at ease than when I was running myself ragged looking for the best version.
Beware the leaven of the Pharisses. Leave, by it’s very nature will work it’s way into the whole lump changing it’s properties.
A little untruth will bring all the truths of scripture into question. The scriptures used for the last 600 years has kept the church strong based on the truth. Why do we need a new “easier to read truth”. The NIV is proven to leave out specific scriptures, there’s no doubt about that, however to say “the missing verses are mentioned in the footnotes” is sperious indeed. Not all bibles have footnotes, nor do most people read them. NASB or KJV (NKJV) will give you a sound grounding in faith has has been evidenced over hundreds of years.
THe NIV Bible is PURE EVIL! It is Satanic, like the rest of the New Age religion Bibles! PURE EVIL! http://www.jesus-is-savior.com/Bible/niv_exposed.htm, ALL the newer Bibles ae PURE EVIL AND SATANIC! I KID YOU NOT! USE KING JAMES VERSION ONLY! AND SPREAD THIS INFO WIDELY AND FAST!
For anyone troubled about their Bible translation look at the book, “The King James Only Controversy,” by James White. He clearly addresses this question and he’s got a lot of great information.
If you research the errors in the translations you will find that the NKJV and the NASV are just as bad as the NIV. It would also appear that there is next to no difference between the NIV and the Jehovahs Witness bible. They approve of the NIV, so that in itself is a worry. They also declare that the KJV is satanic, so that should be good enough for us to devote ourselves to it. If the KJV proves that they are in error and NIV supports their beliefs, I know which bible I would choose. Stick to the KJV. You will soon get used to the thees and thous. By the way, they are the most accurate way of indicating whether a single person is being addressed or many people. The Greek has singular and plural pronouns but our English language does not. You in modern English could mean one or many. The KJV correctly conveys the original meaning of the Greek. You WILL get used to the wordage. Check out these websites: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6559211047213035387#. Also check out the links at the bottom of the video clips. These all link the information quite well and give sensible and understandable clarification of what is happening and to some extent, why.
Don’t be deceived, be warned. That is the message of Revelation in a nutshell. And don’t shoot the messengers. The Holy Spirit will lead us into all truth, which is most probably why Christians around the world are waking up to what is happening with the various translations. For me and my house, we will serve the Lord and read the KJV.
Ray Comfort has a “KJV ‘Comfortized’” version of the ‘KJV’ Bible. He took out the ‘thees and the thous’ but left the test mostly unchanged.
You might check out this version on his website:
